Renewable diesel and cleaner fleet operations.

Most routes to lower fleet emissions involve replacing something expensive. Renewable diesel does not: it goes into the equipment you already own, through the same fill point, with no modification at all.

What renewable diesel actually is

Renewable diesel is a hydrotreated fuel made from renewable feedstocks that is chemically equivalent to petroleum diesel. That equivalence is the entire point, and it is what separates it from biodiesel.

Biodiesel is a different molecule. It is blended in limited proportions, and it brings cold-weather handling and storage considerations with it. Renewable diesel does not: it meets the same specification as the diesel already in the tank, and engines cannot tell the difference.

Same performance, no conversion project

Because it is a drop-in fuel, adopting it is a purchasing decision rather than a capital project. No engine modification, no new infrastructure, no retraining, no change to the fill procedure. It can be mixed with conventional diesel in any proportion, so there is no transition window to manage.

Power and torque are unaffected. For operators whose equipment is working at the limit — construction plant, heavy haulage, generators under load — that is usually the first question, and it is a short answer.

Emissions and ESG reporting

Renewable diesel produces lower lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions than petroleum diesel. How much lower depends on the feedstock and the production pathway, so the honest answer to "by how much" is that it depends on the specific fuel, and your supplier should be able to tell you which.

What matters operationally is that the reduction is documented and reportable. Emissions reporting requirements are tightening across federal and state agencies, and a fuel change backed by delivery records is one of the few levers that produces a defensible number without changing the fleet.

Logistics and storage

Because the fuel is specification-equivalent, it stores in existing tanks and moves on existing trucks. There is no separate handling regime to build.
